Pennsylvania's NEGATIVE 13 present a highly immersive offering in the forthcoming album Recover What You Can, that is set to land on January 25, 2025. Fusing doom and sludge with elements of post-punk, NEGATIVE 13 create an intriguing and distinctive brand of heavy metal.

The album opens with an immense enveloping shroud of fuzz laden guitars in "Desolate". Segueing from the intro track into "Casket Trail", the atmosphere looms heavy - the air thick with groove riffs. Ebbing and flowing arrangements switch between the weighty doom influence and brief moments of respite before returning swiftly to the shadows.

Sweeping in with a raucous pace, "The Vulture Circles" brings a fury of momentum, fierce dissonance and fiery breakdowns. The dynamics shift as the song crescendos with speed and anguish to the final moment of intensity. "Horizon Divides" makes for a powerful offering with distinctive post-punk influences driving the dark and fuzz filled momentum. Hidden amidst the ferocious heaviness are serene arrangements containing airy synths and clean guitars that produce a dream-like state.

"Devil In Your Head" once again unleashes the groove, but not without a characteristic NEGATIVE 13 dose of post-punk. Interspersed with breaths of dissonant calm, the song progresses into the experimental; it's an assault on the senses. "Recover What You Can" ends the album with a bang. This full-throttle attack consists of thundering guitars and thrashing percussion that traverse across multiple genre plains and aptly brings together NEGATIVE 13's distinctive sound.

About NEGATIVE 13:
Formed in 1999, the Pittsburgh, PA based quartet NEGATIVE 13 draw from an eclectic array of stylistic influences and describes their sound as post-punk infested stoner/sludge/doomcore. Commenting on their creative process, the band shares: "[w]e don’t like writing songs that fit a genre box, or limit our creativity. We write on instinct, together in a room, and allow for the mistakes and errors to guide the creative process just as much as the moments of intention."

NEGATIVE 13 disbanded in 2003 after releasing their self-titled debut. Following an extended hiatus, the band reformed in 2021 seeing original members drummer Chip Reynolds, vocalist Scott Fisher, and guitarist Edward Banchs joined by new bassist Mary Bielich. The quartet released their second full-length Mourning Asteri in the summer of 2022 showcasing their musical development. Shortly after, arrived the live offering Live From Black Forge in 2023. The approaching Recover What You Can marks the next chapter in NEGATIVE 13's revived era.
